Caribbean

Caribbean or West India is a group of islands located in the Caribbean Sea. These islands lie to the south of the northwest Florida to Venezuela in South America. Consist of at least 7000 islands, small islands, reefs, and the caye. They are organized into twenty-five territories including sovereign states, dependencies outside the department, and other administrative areas.

The name "West Indian" comes from the idea that Christopher Columbus thought he had landed in India when he actually reached the United States. Caribbean Antilles consists of the Big and Small Antilles and parts of North America.

At one time there was short-lived country called the Federation of Western India which consists of the islands in the Caribbean English-speaking population.
