    Petruk is punakawan in Javanese wayang figures, on the descent / breeds Witaradya. Petruk is not mentioned in the book of Mahabharata.     According puppetry, he was the son of the giant chaplain at the Hermitage and housed in the sea named Begawan Salantara. Previously he was named Bambang Pecruk Panyukilan. He was fond of joking, either with words or behavior and liked to fight. He was a sparring select / magic at his residence and the surrounding area.     In the story of the temple Ambangan Spataharga / Saptaraga, Dewi Mustakaweni, the daughter of country Imantaka, managed to steal the inheritance of Jamus Kalimasada the road posing as relatives of the Pandavas (Gatutkaca), so that he can easily carry off the inheritance. Kalimasada later became a bone of contention between the two countries. The play is famous for the title Petruk Dadi Ratu ("Petruk Be King").     Relations with other punakawan

    Petruk and other Panakawan (Semar, Gareng and Bagong) always live in an atmosphere of harmony as one family. If there is no special interest, they were never separated from each other. Regarding Punakawan, punakawan means "friend of the witness" or accompaniment. Witnesses considered valid, if it consists of two people, it is best if the witness is comprised of people who are not a family. As a witness one must close and knowing something to be seen. In puppetry, witnesses or punakawan it is only consisted of two people, namely Semar and Bagong for Witaradya breeds.

    Before Sanghyang Ismaya incarnate in her granddaughter named Smarasanta (Semar), except Semar with Bagong created from his shadow, they then get Gareng / Bambang Sukodadi and Petruk / Bambang Panyukilan. After Batara Ismaya transformed to Janggan Smarasanta (be Semar), then Gareng and Petruk remain joined to the Semar and Bagong.
