Yogya Kembali Monument

    Yogya Kembali Monument Museum, is a museum of history of the Republic of Indonesia's independence struggle in the city of Yogyakarta and managed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The museum is located in thethe northern part of this city visited by many students in the event excursions .

    Museums Monuments with cone shape consists of 3 floors and are equipped with the library and multipurpose room. At the entrance shutter written a number of 422 names of fallen heroes in the area Wehrkreise III (RIS) between December 19, 1948 until June 29, 1949. In 4 space museum on the 1st floor there are collections of objects: realia, replicas, photographs, documents, heraldika, various types of weapons, a common kitchen in the evocative atmosphere of the war for independence from 1945 to 1949. Stretchers and carts (horse carriage) which was used by the Great Commander General Sudirman also stored here (in the museum space number 3).


    Yogya Kembali Monument was built on June 29, 1985 with the traditional ceremonial planting buffalo head and laying the first stone by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and Sri Paduka Paku Alam VIII. The idea to build this monument were raised by Colonel Soegiarto, as the Mayor of Yogyakarta in 1983. The name was chosen with the intention of Yogya Back as tetenger (warning) from the historical events of the withdrawal of Dutch troops occupied the capital of Jogjakarta Indonesia at that time, June 29, 1949. This is an early sign of the Indonesian nation free from the power of the Dutch government.
