Sekaten

    Sekaten or ceremony Sekaten (derived from the word Syahadatain) is a function to mark Prophet Muhammad's birthday held on the 5th of each month Mulud Java (Rabiul awwal of the year Hijriah) in the plaza north of Yogyakarta (and also in the square Surakarta simultaneously). This ceremony was once used by Emperor Hamengkubuwana I, founder of the palace of Yogyakarta to invite the public to follow and embrace Islam.
    On the first day, the ceremony begins at night with a convoy of Abdi Dalem (Punggowo Kraton), together with two sets of Javanese Gamelan: Kyai Kyai Nogowilogo and Gunturmadu. This convoy originated from the pavilion Ponconiti towards the Grand Mosque in the north plaza Kraton escorted by soldiers. Kyai Nogowilogo will occupy the north side of the Grand Mosque, while Kyai Pagongan Gunturmadu will be on the south side of the mosque. Both sets of gamelan will be played simultaneously to 11 months Mulud for 7 consecutive days. On the last night, the two gamelan will be brought back into the Kingdom.
    Grebeg Muludan
    Top event is marked with warning Sekaten Grebeg Muludan held on December 12 (just inside the birthday of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) started at 8:00 in the morning. Escorted by 10 kinds (bregodo / kompi) soldier Kingdom: Wirobrojo, Daeng, Patangpuluh, Jogokaryo, Prawirotomo, Nyutro, Ketanggung, Mantrijero Surokarso, and the Bugis, a Mount made of glutinous rice, food and fruits and vegetables sayuan will be brought from the palace through Sitihinggil and Exhibition Kemandungan towards the Grand Mosque. After the prayer Gunungan which symbolizes prosperity Mataram kingdom was distributed to people who think that part of the Mount it will bring blessings to them. Parts that are considered sacred Mount will be taken home and planted in the rice / paddy fields for them to be fertile and free from all kinds of disasters and calamities.

    Tumplak Wajik

    Two days before the event Grebeg Muludan, Tumplak Wajik a ceremony held in the courtyard Magangan on at 16:00 pm. The ceremony is in the form kotekan song or game using gong, mortars for pounding rice, and the like which marks the beginning of creation that will be paraded at the Mount during the event Grebeg Muludan later. The songs are played in this event Wajik Tumplak is popular Javanese song like: Lompong Keli, Tundhung Satan, Owal awil, or other folk songs.
