Gender (Traditioan Indonesian Instruments)


    Gender is a metal percussion instruments (metallophone) which became part of the Javanese and Balinese gamelan music device. This tool has a 10 to 14 bar of metal (brass) pitched a hangs on the file, above the resonator of bamboo or tin, and knock the bat out of wood bladed have shape roundabout (Bali) or upholstered wood (Java). The tone is different, depending on the scale used. In a complete Javanese gamelan there are three gender: slendro, pelog pathet nem and five, and pelog pathet goods.
